While ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence-based chatbot, continues to make sounds in the field, competitors are also coming. This time ERNIE Bot has arrived. Baidu, the Google of China, has launched an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot against ChatGPT with ERNIE Bot, which it has been working on for a very long time.
Baidu reports that ERNIE Bot’s database contains about 550 billion pieces of proven information
The bot will not be publicly available for everyone to use yet. In addition, the bot, which focuses directly on the Chinese market, is as capable as the language model GPT-4 according to the information shared by the company. This is a bit too ambitious, but Baidu, which is very confident in the infrastructure they have built, has actually been working on ERNIE, which stands for “Enhanced Representation through Knowledge Integration”, for 10 years. However, the latest version focuses directly on ChatGPT.
The company is seriously updating the first version released in 2019 after ChatGPT was very popular and reintroducing ERNIE on the basis of a “Chinese alternative”. In addition, Baidu reports that the system’s database contains about 550 billion pieces of proven information. The bot, which can create images and videos from Chinese texts, reportedly has voice communication support. Already, 650 different companies have registered to use the technology on which ERNIE Bot is built.
Before that, Anthropic, a company founded by former OpenAI (the company that developed ChatGPT) employees, made a splash with its own artificial intelligence-based chatbot named Claude. The company, in which Google invested 300 million dollars in 2022, describes its chatbot as “less likely to produce harmful outputs/results” and “easier to chat with”.
The system, like ChatGPT, understands the questions asked and can give effective answers to users. In addition, it can help software developers with coding or preparing content/articles on certain topics for you. Claude, whose answers or, in other words, answer tone is customizable and do not have any internet access.
